Master in the science of Feng Shui
ARTICLE - 2 FENG SHUI AND NATURE
Sometimes or the other, this has happened in your life. You go to visit a friend, with an intention to spend the whole day with him, but when you enter his house, you feel suddenly uncomfortable and then you spend hardly any time with him. Yet, in another situation, you park your car in no parking zone thinking that you will return in two minutes, after delivering the cassette or a book to your friend. But instead, you land up spending hours to-gather with him.
Have you ever realised, why this happens? The answer lies in Feng Shui science. You will understand this better, if for few movements you forget who and what you are today. I will then explain you how I have perceived this science. It is totally my view and belief after my research on this subject.
God created a soul, which we cannot see. Soul only changes forms. This Soul needs home – the human body. The picture shows you the Chakra system in our body. Chakras have been accepted by the science today because of the Kirlian photography, which shows you the Chakara and Aura of your body with their colours. Being a Reiki Grand Master, Crystal Gazer and spiritual, I understand the Universal Energy and its importance on this planet. You can be without water for seven days, without food for more than a fortnight. But, without this universal energy, no one can survive. In Sanskrit you may call it as PRANA, in Hibru they say HAKA, Chinese names it CHI and Japanese practice it as REIKI. These are only different names of UNIVERSAL ENERGY!
This Energy enters into our body through Crown Chakra, and passes through the balance six chakra and returns back to the Universe, completing the cycle. God created a naked human. If he wanted us to wear clothes, he would have made our skin like Tortoise or Hippopotamus. Our naked body accepts the universal energy; hence the chakras get aligned and energised. Once your chakras are aligned and energised, you do not have problems. That is why the naked human lived more than 200 years.
We all are aware, that this body (home of a soul) needs the home to rest. Thirty percent of our lives we spend in sleeping. Because when we sleep, we recharge our body. If you observe the tribes & their homes they will always find for themselves a place at the foothill of the mountains and ensure that water is accessible in front of them. Mountain for protection form wind and water as a basic need of a human being. Wind drives all the intangible forces and ends at Water.
If you refer to my last article where I have stated that Feng Shui literally means wind & water. These two powerful elements create lot of intangible forces in & around our homes or work places. Feng Shui science assists you to understand these energy fields & help you bring harmony in your homes & offices by directing them in right manner.
Like seven chakars in our body, if the energy is circulated in harmony in the eight corners of your houses then your health, which is in the centre, is excellent.
Now that you have understood the movement of energy you will figure out why you should not choose house or a work place in a shape of a triangle, round or with lot of uneven shapes. The diagrams shown here will indicate how energy moves in different types of shapes. Triangle symbolises fire because the energy is constantly pulsating. This causes lot of Yang energy. Too much of fire energy may cause actual fire. Round shape gives constant movement to the energy. Energy gets too fast and causes people to get hyper active. If you have a round dinning table, either all the family member do not sit down together or if they do, they do not spend much time on the table or many a times small arguments take place. Uneven shapes always cause problems in various areas, depending upon the missing corners of the house.

ARTICLE - 1 WHAT IS FENG SHUI ?
Home Sweet Home! We all want our home to be a heaven! Though the definition of a home will differ from person to person, at the end of the day it is a nest for every human being to sit back and relax.
There are three most important aspects in one’s life – Food, clothes and shelter (Roti, Kapada and Makan). When it comes to eating habits, every one of us have our own whims and fancies of what to eat and what not too. Talk about clothes and we have our own taste and would not like to be criticised. But when it comes to shelter, we only express our dream of possessing a flat in Malabar hill, Pedder road (Mumbai’s rich locality) or many other elite areas of the city and suburb. Surprisingly, what everyone forgets to check is, how good or bad is the house you have or going to buy? Yes, the location, surrounding, layout, directions, wind and water that moves in front or back of your house, is extremely important.
When it comes to selecting your home, science of Feng Shui plays an important role. Feng Shui literally means ‘Wind and Water’. This ancient science of China is 3000 years old and since then it has helped millions to change their lives. Though, it was originally possessed and practised by the Chinese Maters for their Emperors, it is now available to all of us.
In my future articles, I will reveal the secrets of each Feng Shui School formulas in stages for benefit of all the readers. I am certain, if you follow my guidance; you will bring Health, Wealth and Prosperity in your lives. This is how Feng Shui is going to help you.
Feng Shui Helps you to understand the natural environment in and around your house and provides simple solutions to overcome the deficiencies caused by the unwanted surroundings. The beauty of Feng Shui lies in its simplicity. Feng Shui science is symbolic, and it offers various options when it comes to cures. For example, if I say, ideally you should put a fish tank in the area identified but if you happen to be vegetarian or do not believe in keeping fish tank in the house. The solution is, you can hang a picture of fishes in the water. It will give you the same results.
Look at the basic Ba-Gua chart, it has nine squares. We will call them corners, like wealth corner, fame corner and so on…. It indicates nine areas of our lives. This chart is used without taking the direction in to account. It is called Black Hat Feng Shui. There are quite a few practitioners who practice this form school of Feng Shui. If you super impose this chart on the layout of your flat, you will be able to identify the problem areas of your life.
When you super impose this chart on your layout plan check which corner of your flat is missing .It is important to identify the location of the toilets. Because toilets drain the energy, that corner of your life is bound to be affected. After you identify the areas, check with yourself, if you have a problem in that area of your life? Some may not have any missing area or may not even have a toilet inside but may be facing problems in some area of their lives. In such cases, you will need to follow my future articles because as you progress, I will introduce you to different schools of Feng Shui.

We all have a favourite myth about hair care some of them are as old as the hills! In this second in a series of 3 articles, we examine some of the most widely known myths - and seek out the reality
1. Dry hair is damaged by too-frequent washing
FALSE: Hair is more likely to be damaged if it’s left too long between washes. Not washing can cause the scalp’s natural oil to be blocked, and unable to lubricate the hair shaft. As a result, hair can become dry and brittle. Things that damage hair include bleaching, coloring, styling and brushing when wet.
2. To stop the frizzies, use shampoo only twice a month. The rest of the time, rinse daily with conditioner
FALSE: Oil becomes rancid when it stays on the surface of the scalp, so regular shampooing is required to keep hair and scalp clean and healthy. Avoid frizzies by conditioning after every shampoo and try a leave-in conditioner, too.
3. A rinse out conditioner does not provide benefits because it is rinsed out
FALSE: Rinse out conditioners applied to your hair after washing will leave a deposit of moisturizing proteins and other ingredients on the hair shaft giving hair that is softer, shinier and better conditioned.
4. Blow-drying hair can cause it to smoke
FALSE: This strange myth has circulated in different variations for many years. On the rare occasion that hair smokes it is due to the evaporation of condensation on the hair from styling gels or similar hair care products.
5. Brushing thinning hair makes it fall out faster
FALSE: Although, brushing can damage hair (see above), as long as you use a good brush, normal daily brushing will not accelerate the normal loss of hair from the scalp. If your hair is suffering from a hair loss condition like alopecia brushing will only cause you to lose hair that is already ready to fall. Excessive brushing is always discouraged under any circumstances.
6. Shaving a babys scalp will alter their natural hair texture
FALSE: The hair that a baby is born with may or may not be the hair that they grow up with. Shaving a babys head will not alter the texture of their ultimate hair nor will it cause their hair to grow faster or thicker.
7. Gray hair can only be covered with permanent color
FALSE: Depending on the percentage of gray hair that you have, you may be able to blend or cover the budding gray with a semi-permanent or demi-permanent blend that does not contain harsh chemicals.
8. Excessive use of hair products causes hair loss
FALSE: There are no known, (professionally produced) hair care products that cause hair loss. You may sculpt your locks with as much gel, mousse or spray as you desire. However, be careful of home-made remedies, or any product that you dont know the contents of.
9. Hair care products advertised as natural are chemical-free
FALSE: Not all hair care products sold in health food establishments, etc are completely natural; some may contain chemicals like SLS. When in doubt read the label.
10. Eating Jell-O will make your hair grow faster
FALSE: According to dermatologists, there is no evidence that Jell-O will do anything for hair growth. Syncronized swimmers use Gelatin on their hair to protect against chlorine damage), but there’s no evidence that it will stimulate growth.
11. Stress causes your hair to thin
FALSE: Everyday stress won’t cause your hair to thin. The problem may be hormonal or nutritional in nature.
12. Steroids have no side effects on hair
FALSE: Bodybuilders beware! Anabolic steroids are very potent chemicals that have some treacherous side effects including acceleration of hair loss. The problem is that these side effects are usually delayed by several years.
13. Standing on your head cures hair loss
FALSE: Hair follicles need more than blood flow to grow hair. Standing on your head to increase blood flow to your scalp, may be great for your gymnastic skills, but will have no effect on your hair.
14. Split ends will travel
TRUE: Uncut split ends can travel up the hair shaft towards the roots. Hair that is not tended to, over time, may develop splits that migrate and split all or part of the entire hair. Some ends can actually tear multiple times so that your split ends have splits.
15. Hair will always remain the same texture
FALSE: Although you may be born with straight, curly or wavy locks, there are many circumstances under which your hairs ultimate texture can be permanently altered. Pregnancy, medication, chemotherapy, age and other variables can cause your texture to be temporarily or permanently altered.
SUMMARY
Heard another myth about hair? Do your research ask an expert! This doesnt include your grandmother, best friend or local barmaid. Instead, talk to an experienced hairdresser or a trichologist. Always get the real facts before you act on any hair myths you owe it to your hair.

The number one thing that you can do to guarantee that you always receive the best hair cuts, latest professional techniques and stellar service is to choose the right hair salon. Granted, that is easier said than done. With hair salons on practically every street corner, narrowing down your options to find the right hair salon can be confusing.
Getting a referral to a hair salon by family and friends could be a good way to begin your search. But do not stop there. As you may already know, no two hair stylists take the same artistic approach to their work. That means that a particular stylist or hair salon may do a fantastic job on your Cousin Suzie’s long layers and still not be quite able to pull off your short textured crop. That does not mean that your cousin’s hair salon is inferior in any way. It just means that you need to find a hair salon that is more suited to your particular style and needs.
The easiest way to find a hair salon suited to your needs is to ask people with hair styles similar to what you want for a referral to their hair salon. These may be people you know or complete strangers that you see while you are out shopping. Do not be shy. If you see a cute style that you have been unsuccessfully trying to achieve, ask the person which hair salon they go to. You may never get a chance to do so again.
Another thing that you can do to make sure that you choose the right hair salon is to schedule a consultation. A consultation allows you to “feel out” a hair salon before making a commitment to a stylist that you may regret. During a consultation, you can observe the different techniques that the staff at the hair salon is using and how they interact with their customers. A consultation also gives you the chance to vocalize what you want and receive feedback from a professional, all before the first snip is made. Most hair salons also have a portfolio that you can look through of before and after pictures, which can give you a sense of what kind of work do.
During your search for the right hair salon, there are some red flags that can be easily detected that can warn you of impending disaster if you choose a particular hair salon. Here are just a few:
” Dirt and grime. A clean hair salon is mandated by the state, but some salons still tend to push the envelope where cleanliness is concerned. Look for sanitary procedures such as the use of clean combs and brushes, sanitary neck strips and a clean work station. If a hair salon feels dirty, do not frequent it. Look at it this way, if the stylists of a particular salon do not take enough pride in their hair salon to keep it clean, why would they take pride in the work they put out the door?
” Professionalism. The hair salon is a professional place, and you should feel like you have stepped into a den of luxury not one more suited to the Saturday nightlife. Again, it’s all about pride. Professionals who take pride in their work will strive to create the right atmosphere for their customers.
” Communication. Communication is vital in a hair salon. Observe how the stylists interact with their customers. That is how they will interact with you.
In the end, it may take a little trial and error to find the right hair salon, but you can make your search easier by following the above advice. Always keep in mind, though, that choosing the wrong hair salon is not a death sentence. Simply brush yourself off and keep looking.

Be it a birthday, anniversary, promotion, bachelor or hen parties or well, nothing at all; a reason or no reason to party is always welcome. And the fun multiplies if the party is arranged in the comfort zone of a friend’s house where it’s ok to drop in wearing your ugliest work attire, courtesy laundry crisis. Or where it’s ok to get sloshed because you know you can avoid driving and park it for the night under dire circumstances. So here we go today, for all you party lovers, and let’s plan to make house parties memorable and fun.
Our first step would be to divide our plan into five basic functional areas- decor, food, beverage, music and invitees. But above all these aspects is the most important one that would discriminate and highlight your party over anyone else’s. And that secret my friend is having a theme to the whole hullabaloo you create.
Now what do we mean by a theme. A theme is basically giving a method to the madness of having fun where a string holds everyone together and makes them feel in unison. So a simple colour theme would also do the trick. Just ask your invitees to wear a particular to the party and do up your house in similar colour shades and tints. E.g. a red color theme is easy to carry out as both men and women are comfortable in the shade and arranging for red bulbs, a few red duppattas, red bedspread etc is no big deal. Going with the season the most ‘in’ themes this season is the Retro 70’s, bohemian, Hawaiian being the summer favorite. Get creative and arrange a “rainbow” themed party mid-june and have fun playing with color on a hot summer evening from décor to drinks! Or maybe, a Ben-Ten themed bachelor party.
So once you’ve added the special touch, work on your decor based on the theme. A color theme is easy to work with not only in terms of costume but also in terms of setting up the house. So, a few properties like colored paper lamp shades, duppattas, hand painted plastic glasses for that extra special touch, can all be worked out. A bohemian theme on the other hand would involve expense and a little concentration to details. So be prepared to order for the sheesha on the house and be prepared with the angethi and option in flavours. Rugs, mats, cushions- a carefully done careless atmosphere works ‘wow’ for a party.
Next we cover food and beverage. The beverage or the drinks are essentially the life of any party. Therefore assuming, you are not one of those who still party with Pepsi (neat!) let’s have a little fun here. A good party is essentially where everybody is well taken care of. So if vodka makes Sam sleepy and whisky doesn’t go well with the girls, you need to know the preference of your friends and be well armed. And crazy it may sound, its important to know and stock on, what they like their drinks with as well. (I knew someone who liked whiskey only with apple juice and I’ve seen him enter parties with bottles of apple juice, you know, just in case!). So hard on the pocket it maybe, but have all the options ready in good measure and a bit of spare in case of emergency. Remember a party where guests go out to buy booze is a sure failure. But we also care for those Pepsi friends who too are cordially invited. So be a little creative and cook up a few mock tails that are easy to make and good to have, instead of serving them an insensitive glass of Pepsi.
The food needs to be in sync or favorable with the theme. So, from finger food to dinner, plan in co-ordination with the theme and drinks. Usually at house parties it is ok to have buffets. So plan a menu that has bite size morsels and is appetizing to even someone sloshed and rolling on the floor. The finger food can vary from French fries to chicken or cheese nuggets, wafers etc. Don’t go overboard as you have an office to attend and stick to easily preparable stuff.
Now, comes the music. Since it’s your party, your friends, your theme, so is your music. So turn the table to the tunes that you know would suit all. Create a symphony between the theme and the music and keep it low enough to be able to have conversations going and loud enough to have fun. Usually one doesn’t want to hit the floor at a house party as its more relaxed, so choose what you think would go best.
Last but not the least, be sure of who to invite. This process goes a long way, so step 1: What’s the occasion; birthday, promotion or none at all? If birthday, then choice is very limited and you must call all those you think are friends. This is not exactly an office do, so if you’re confused you can do away with them if you are not particularly close with them. On the other hand, a promotion calls for colleagues, friends and family, so be sure you don’t miss the important few people you would want to share the joy with. But if it is none at all, then it is a question who to invite. My take is, if it is a party just to catch-up and relax, then limit the list of the closest few as it cuts down the burden of formality and the likes. Lastly an advice, unless completely unavoidable, try and not mix friends, you know school, college, work and gym pals often creates confusion and misunderstanding. Make sure your invitees know each other well enough to start a conversation.
So now that we are ready to make the call and order the coke, a few tips in hand:
Lock the rooms you don’t wish people to enter to prevent any mayhem.
If it is a pot-luck party, then make sure you send the message loud and clear to avoid confusion.
Small or big, a party is always welcome so send out nice invites and make them feel welcome rather than making a hasty phone call.
Plan well. Don’t throw in things at the last moment.
So go ahead, shake it up and throw your friends a remarkable party. Have Fun!

Hey all you people out there. Winters are here, so what’s your fashion statement this season and for the coming year? Let me be your guide to the coolest hairstyles for the upcoming season and beyond that are here to stay but hey, only ladies read on.Hair is extremely pertinent in making a style statement today as it can literally make one look like a star rather than a just another in the crowd. What with places like Nalini and Yasmin, B:blunt, Juice that not only provide the service but are also institutes of hairstyling, personal grooming and lots more. The city is witnessing the uprising of a billion dollar industry obviously it’s us who pay for the billions anything between Rs.500-900 and above for a haircut depending upon the style and the stylist. Hey, but you’re worth it! Holding such an important place in our grooming, it is vitally important to know what’s in and what’s out. Listed below are four of the hottest and sexiest styles that experts are predicting will rule through 2007 and beyond.
The business cut:
This look is popular with women who want it simple and all-business, yet elegant. Its popularity is due to the fact that it takes little effort to stay in place and is really easy to manage, be the length long or short. Secure your hair into a neat ponytail or a bun for that smart-n-slick look. With women making it big in the corporate world, this hairstyle gives a sexy edge to the serious CEOs. In short it’s smart, sexy, chic and practical. Now can you get a better combo than that? You can see it on Hillary Clinton, and the first lady, Mrs. Bush and if that’s heavy weight for you, checkout Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz and others sporting the practical and sexy look.
The Shaggy Look:
By far the most popular look this season, it’s definitely here to stay. This is for shoulder length to medium length hair that is styled to look messy, punky and sexy at the same time with lots ‘n’ lots of uneven layers and steps. It often combines cut-styles like layers, razor, and spikes to produce a fabulous outcome that gives you this just-out-of-bed look that is oh so hot this season. However the secret to this is to not wash the hair too often as it will dry it out and make it lose its natural shape. With this hairstyle your hair should be well nourished and conditioned for the layers to fall well and get the desired look every time you wash your hair. Expert advice is to use lots of conditioners, leave-in serums for best results. Depending on your adventure quotient, use gels and mousse to get it messier and funkier. But if that’s not your cup of tea then just wash &, condition well, apply some serum when semi dry and forget about it. No combing, no brushing. Better still do this at night and when you wakeup, voila! The perfect out-of-bed look that’s absolute no fuss and yet an absolute head turner. For added funk go for crazy streaking in shades like chilli red, flame red, pink, carrot orange, violet, purple…the palette is all yours to choose from. And bet on it, it’ll turn more heads than miss goody two shoes.
Long, sexy waves: Go Shakira!
This is for the less daring ladies, who prefer to keep it subtle, sweet and sexy. For one thing, after ruling the roost for so long finally perms have bade farewell to us n made way for long, loose waves that is just the in-thing for those lucky damsels with long tresses. To get this look, just wash your hair with a herbal shampoo and let the water drip off and soak lightly and let it dry naturally without combing. When it dries it would give you this scrunched look, then spray some mousse and scrunch it up with your hands and there you are all set to rock the party. As a personal touch try using dainty hair pins for that funky, ornate look. So go ahead try it out add in your touch and transform into a new you.
The Side Part:
Classic and trendy, the diagonal bang is high fashion style and oh so in!!! It will take a sexy, rock or punk variation giving your hairstyle a really glamorous touch. This style will remain popular, with the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Meg Ryan and others sporting it with much poise. Now here’s my final piece of advice, keep your personality and lifestyle in mind while choosing the look, be free with your hairstylist, let him or her know exactly what you are looking for, avoid harsh chemicals as much as possible and last but not the least - carry it with confidence, and you would definitely make heads turn. So what are you dudettes waiting for? Create your own style and carry it with confidence and poise!
